October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
This year, Friend to Friend invites you to join our Shine a Light campaign. Together, we will shine a light on domestic violence by:
Honoring those impacted — purchasing luminaries in memory or in honor of a loved one affected by abuse.
Raising awareness of our services — reminding our community that help, safety, and healing are available.
Inspiring hope for those still suffering in silence — sending a message that they are not alone, and that a brighter future is possible.
On the evening of October 30th, luminaries will be lit across our community, symbolizing the strength we find in standing together. Each light represents resilience, remembrance, and the promise of hope.
Why We Shine A Light
Domestic violence impacts 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men in their lifetime. Too often, survivors feel isolated, ashamed, or afraid to speak out. By shining a light together, we show that they are seen, supported, and never alone.
When you participate in the Shine a Light campaign, you’re doing more than honoring or remembering a loved one—you are directly helping survivors in our community access life-saving services through Friend to Friend, such as:
A safe shelter to escape violence
24/7 crisis line and live chat support
Court and advocacy services
Counseling and support groups
Resources for rebuilding independence and safety
On October 30th, as luminaries shine across our community, each light will stand as a symbol of hope, strength, and unity. And behind every light is real impact—helping survivors find safety, healing, and the chance to live free from violence.
Together, our lights illuminate the path forward.
