Executive Director, Dr. Anne Friesen

Dr. Friesen, who has more than 20 years of professional experience in the human services field, currently serves as Executive Director of Friend to Friend, whose mission is to help survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking to rebuild their lives.  Prior to her work in human services, Anne created educational programs and materials for building stronger families.

Activities & Affiliations

Anne currently serves on both the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence Board of Directors and on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Coalition Against Human Trafficking.

In 2016, Anne was recognized as one of three Moore County Citizens of the Year by the Rotary Club of Carthage, which honors community members that exemplify the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self” through their dedication time, and lifetime support of our community.

This year, Dr. Friesen was elected by her peers to be on the Board of Directors at the North Carolina Coalition Against Human Trafficking.

Friend to Friend  provides intervention and crisis services and other assistance to victims of rape and sexual assault by providing a 24-hour crisis line, a sexual assault on-call program which utilizes volunteers and staff members, and offering counseling services to survivors of rape and sexual assault. 

Friend to Friend Staff

Our team is comprised of compassionate, trauma-informed advocates who are committed to protecting hundreds of adults, children and their pets who need our emergency shelter and services to escape life threatening abuse. Our team takes a holistic approach when helping survivors rebuild their lives.

At our Advocacy Office, our court advocacy team helps to provide assistance with protective orders and court accompaniment. We also offer support groups to female inmates on parenting, sexual assault awareness, and healthy relationships to help them achieve success upon exiting the prison system.

Our Serenity House team, is comprised of a 24-hour trauma-informed direct service staff, who provide guidance advocacy, support groups, special programming and holistic care for both single women and women with children. Our care coaches focus on curriculum that builds both leadership and self sufficiency skills. Our innovative programming promotes healthy relationships while teaching boundary awareness, art expressions, goal making, journaling, equine therapy, dog therapy, spiritual exploration, financial literacy, children’s enrichment, meditation, and mindfulness.

The Friend to Friend Board of Directors currently boasts 15 members, ages ranging from 34-56. Our board is made up of community leaders who offer expertise and experience from a wide variety of fields. Our board members are committed to social change, and helping survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking rebuild their lives.
