We are looking for special volunteers to help accompany survivors to Court, help in the Office, Community Education, and Fundraising Events. Volunteering at Friend to Friend makes you part of a movement to end violence and protect survivors. Please complete our brief Volunteer Form, or contact our Volunteer Coordinator.

As required by law, Friend to Friend will run a criminal background check on all volunteer applicants.

Court Advocate Volunteer

Duties: Assist Friend to Friend clients with filling out restraining orders and giving emotional support during court proceedings.

Location: Our Office - 103 Monroe St., Suite 102, Carthage, NC 28327

Hours: 3-5 Hours Weekly

Requirements: 2 hours of training with Friend to Friend’s Domestic Violence advocate at the Friend to Friend office in Carthage. Excellent communication and organization skills. Demonstrated commitment to working with low-income and diverse populations. Enjoy contact with the public. Spanish-speaking a plus. Volunteer hours vary.

Sexual Assault Advocate

Duties: Provide emotional support and advocacy to sexual assault victims at Moore Regional Hospital. This is a volunteer position that requires 100% commitment, confidentiality and willingness to be called anytime during a 24-hour period. 

Duties may include:  

1) Sitting with the client while she/he is waiting to be examined; 
2) Explaining rights to the client, including what to expect during the medical exam and from a law enforcement interview;  
3) Contacting family members upon request; 
4) Assisting the client with developing an emergency safety plan; 
5) Filling out a client intake form;
6) Acting as a liason between the client and the Sexual Assault Response Team.

Location: Moore Regional Hospital Emergency Room.

Hours: Volunteers will be asked to be "on call” for one week or one month for 24 hours a day. Volunteers may receive 1-2 calls during their "on call” period or no calls.

Requirements: 16 hours of training on Rape Sensitivity through Fayetteville Technical College (Friend to Friend will pay for the training). Compassionate, willing to provide emotional support and ability to stay calm and composed during a crisis. Excellent communication skills required (listening more than talking, speaking quietly and with compassion, ability to talk with a family in a way that is supportive).

Communication Specialist

Duties: This position consists of creating new website, social media, and blog content. If you have the skillsets and want to make a hands-on impact in both the domestic violence and sexual assault field, we would love to speak with you. 

Time Requirement: 10 hours weekly (approx.)

Location: Our Office and Remotely.

Hours: Approx. 10 hours, weekly

Requirements: MS Word, Social Media ToolsBonus Skills: Comfortable in both PC and Mac environments, familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat, general knowledge of Infographics, familiarity with Google Analytics, digital photography and editing.
